이게 뭐예요(ige mwoyeyo)? - What is it?
When asking about an object close to the speaker "이게 뭐에요(ige mwoyeyo)?" is used. When asking about an object that is far from the speaker but close to the listener, "그게 뭐에요(geuge mwo-eyo)?" is used.When asking about an object that is far away from both the speaker and listener,"저게 뭐예요(jeoge mwoyeyo)?" is used.
1)A: 이게 뭐예요(ige mwoyeyo)? - What is this?
B: 접시예요(jeobsiyeyo). - It's a plate
2)A: 그게 뭐예요(geuge mwoyeyo)? - What is that?
B:숟가락이에요(sudgalag-ieyo). - It's a spoon.
3)A:저게 뭐예요(jeoge mwoyeyo)? - What is that over there?
B: 시계예요(sigyeyeyo). - It's a clock.
