'무슨[noun]' is used when asking about the type of something.

A: 무슨 운동 좋아해요? What kind of sports do you like?
B: 축구를 좋아해요. I like soccer.

A: 무슨 책 좋아해요? what type of book do you like?
B: 소설책 좋아해요. I like novels

A:무슨 음악을 좋아해요? What kind of music do you like to listen to?
B: 가요를 좋아해요. I like Korean pop songs.

{Dialogue} 얼마나 걸려요? - How long does it take?


__쯤 걸리다 It takes about [amount of time]

'___쯤 걸리다' is used to express about how much time is required

A: 얼마나 걸려요? How long does it take?
B: 30분 걸려요. It takes around 30minutes.

A: 얼마나 걸려요? How long does it take.
B: 1시간 걸려요. It take시가 s about one hour.

A: 백화점에 어떻게 가요? How do I get to the department store?
B: 버스를 타세요.20분 걸려요. You can take a bus. It takes about 20minutes.

{Dialogue} 지금 몇 시예요? What time is it now?



지금 몇 시예요? What time is it now?
This expression is used to ask the time. To give the time state the hour and then the minutes like so "__시__분이에요." Korean numbers [하나,둘,셋..]are used to express the hour while Chinese numbers[일,이,삼…] are used to express the minutes. And 30minutes can also be expressed as "반"(ex: 3시반이에요. It's three-thirty)

A: 지금 몇시에요?what time is it now?
B: 세시 삼십분이에요. It's 3:30

___에 at [time]
After time, use the particle "_에"
6시에 퇴근해요. I leave work at 6 o'clock.

A: 몇시에요 자요? What time do you sleep?
B: 11시에 자요. I sleep at 11 o'clock.

A: 몇시에 저녁 식사해요? What time do you eat dinner?
B: 7시에 저녁식사해요. I eat dinner at7o'clock.

B:I have it several times a day. (하루에 몇 차례씩 아픕니다.)

A: 생일이 며칠이에요?
     When is your birthday?
B: 11월 10일이에요.
     It's November 10th.

A: 어버이날이 며칠이에요?
     When is Parent's day?
B:5월8일이에요.
    It's May 8th

무슨 요일이에요? What day of the week?
This expression is used to find out the day of the week. To answer, say "___요일이에요"

A: 오늘은 무슨 요일이에요?
     What day is today?
B: 월요일이에요.
     It's Monday.

A: 내일은 무슨 요일이에요?
     What day is tomorrow?
B: 화요일이에요.
     It's Tuesday.

____일 후이다. be [number]day[s] later; be [number]day[s] from now.

A: 추석이 언제예요?
     When is chuseok?
B: 5일 후예요.
     It's 5days later.

A: 생일이 며칠이에요?
     When is your birthday?
B: 6월 16일이에요.
     It's 5days later.
A: 4일 후예요?
     4days from now.
B: 네, 그래요.
     Yes, indeed.

{Dialogue} 이게 뭐예요(ige mwoyeyo)? - what is this?


이게 뭐예요(ige mwoyeyo)? - What is it?

When asking about an object close to the speaker "이게 뭐에요(ige mwoyeyo)?" is used. When asking about an object that is far from the speaker but close to the listener, "그게 뭐에요(geuge mwo-eyo)?" is used.When asking about an object that is far away from both the speaker and listener,"저게 뭐예요(jeoge mwoyeyo)?" is used.

1)A: 이게 뭐예요(ige mwoyeyo)? - What is this?
    B: 접시예요(jeobsiyeyo). - It's a plate

2)A: 그게 뭐예요(geuge mwoyeyo)? -  What is that?
    B:숟가락이에요(sudgalag-ieyo). -  It's a spoon.

3)A:저게 뭐예요(jeoge mwoyeyo)? -  What is that over there?
    B: 시계예요(sigyeyeyo). - It's a clock.

{Dialogue} 이름이 뭐예요? - What is your name?

Q.이름이 뭐예요(Ileum-i mwoyeyo)? - What is your name?

To ask someone for their name in a more polite manner or in more formal settings such as at work, instead of saying "이름이 뭐예요(Ileum-i mwoyeyo)?" say "성함이 어떻게 되세요(Seongham-i eotteohge doeseyo)?"
[1] A:이름이 뭐예요(Ileum-i mwoyeyo)? - What's your name?
      B:저는 김영수예요.(Jeoneun gim-yeongsuyeyo) - I'm Kim Yeongsu.
[2]A:성함이 어떻게 되세요(Seongham-i eotteohge doeseyo)? - May I ask your name?
B:저는 박영숙이에요.(Jeoneun bag-yeongsug-ieyo) - My name is Park Yeongsuk.
A.저는 ________(이)라고 합니다.(Jeoneun ________(i)lago habnida) - My name is (name). 
A more polite way to introduce oneself than "저는(name)이에요/예요(jeoneun(name)ieyo/yeyo)" is to say "저는 name(이)라고 합니다(Jeoneun name(i)lago habnida)". If the name ends in a consonant, then "저는_____이라고 합니다(jeoneun_____ilago habnida)" If the name ends in a vowel, the "저는 _____라고 합니다(jeoneun _____lago habnida)"
저는 왕리라고 합니다(Jeoneun wanglilago habnida) - My name is Wangli.
저는 박영숙이라고 합니다(Jeoneun bag-yeongsug-ilago habnida) - My name is Park Yeongsuk.

{Dialogue} 직업이 뭐예요? - What do you do for a living?


Q. 직업이 뭐예요(Jig-eob-i mwoyeyo)? - What do you do for a living?
A. 저는 요라사예요.(jeoneun yolisayeyo) - I am a cook.

A more polite way to find out what a person does for a living is to ask "직업이 어떻게 되세요(Jig-eob-i eotteohge doeseyo)?" or "무슨일 하세요(Museun-il haseyo)?" Regardless, in response to such questions you may reply by saying "제 직업은_______이에요/예요.(Je jig-eob-eun_______ieyo/yeyo)" or "저는____이에요/예요.(Jeoneun____ieyo/yeyo)"
A: 무슨 일 하세요(Museun il haseyo)? - What kind of work do you do?
B:제 직업은 경찰관이에요.(je jig-eob-eun gyeongchalgwan-ieyo) - I'm a police officer.

A. ______에 다녀요(_____e danyeoyo). - I work at (place)
When saying what you do for a living you amy either say "저는 은행원이에요.(Jeoneun eunhaeng-won-ieyo) - I'm a bank employee or you may say "저는 은행에 다녀요.(Jeoneun eunhaeng-e danyeoyo) -I work at a bank.
A: 무슨 일 하세요(Museun il haseyo)? - What kind of work do you do?
B:저는 회사에 다녀요 = 저는 회사원이에요.(jeoneun hoesa-e danyeoyo = jeoneun hoesawon-ieyo.) - I work at an office. = I'm a company employee.

요리사(yolisa)=cook
직업(jig-eob)=Job
회사(hoesa)= company
경찰관(gyeongchalgwan) = police officer
선생님(seonsaengnim)= teacher
의사(uisa)=doctor
간호사(ganhosa)=nurse
변호사(byeonhosa)=lawyer
농부(nongbu)=farmer

{Dialogue} 어디서 오셨어요? - Where are you from?


A) 어디서 오셨어요?(Eodiseo osyeoss-eoyo?) - Where are you from?  
B) 저는_________에서 왔어요(Jeoneun_________eseo wass-eoyo) - I am from (nationality, town, city)

"저는_________에서 왔어요(Jeoneun_________eseo wass-eoyo)"you can make a sentece by filling the blank with your country,your city or hometown.
저는 한국에서 왔어요(Jeoneun hangug-eseo wass-eoyo) - I'm from Korea
저는 중국에서 왔어요(Jeoneun jung-gug-eseo wass-eoyo) - I'm from China
저는 방콕에서 왔어요(Jeoneun bangkog-eseo wass-eoyo)- I'm from Bangkok.
한국(hangug)=Korea
중국(jung-gug)=China
태국(taegug)=Thailand
미국(migug)=USA
독일(dog-il)= Germany
호주(hoju)=Australia

저(jeo) = I (pronoun)
Both 나(Na) and  저(jeo)mean "I" in English. 저(jeo) is used when we address a person considered senior to us in status. 저(jeo) can also be deferential. 나(na) is used in casual situations. For example, we would use 저(jeo) when we talk to our teacher whereas 나(na) is appropriate among friends.

{Dialogue} 요즘 어때요? - How are things these days?

 요즘 어때요? How are things these days?

" 요즘 어때요?,요즘 어떻해 지내요?,요즘 잘 지내요?" are all common greetings used to find out how one's current condition in life is going. Common responese are "네 좋아요(Ne joh-ayo)- Good ,그냥 그래요(Geunyang geulaeyo)- so so, 요즘 죽을 맛이에요(Yojeum jug-eul mas-ieyo)- Life sucks."

1) A:요즘 어때요?(yojeum eottaeyo?) - How are things these days?
     B:좋아요(joh-ayo). - Good.

2) A:요즘 어떻게 지내요?(yojeum eotteohhae jinaeyo?) - How are things these  days?                                                                                                      
    B: 그냥 그래요(Geunyang geulaeyo)- so so

3) A: 요즘 잘지내요? How are things these days?(yojeum jal jinaeyo?               
     B: 요즘 죽을 맛이에요(Yojeum jug-eul mas-ieyo)- Life sucks
